The single greatest cause of motorcycle accidents is oncoming cars turning left across the paths of motorcycles.

From KSLA in Texas:

TEXARKANA, TX. (KSLA) - Two Texas residents end up in area hospitals Thursday morning after being involved in a major accident.

The accident happened in the Libery Eylau, which is located in the Bowie County of Texarkana, Texas. It involved a car and motorcycle.

Texas DPS tell News 12 the driver of the car was traveling South on Highway 59 in Bowie County when the driver tried to turn left on Golden Rule road, the car pulled right out in front of a motorcycle that was traveling northbound. Upon impact, the motorcycle rider ended up on top of the car.

News 12 has also learned the names of those involved in that major accident. The driver of the motorcycle was 25-year-old Gordon Gunter, he was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Tyler with critical injuries.

The passenger in the car also received some minor injuries, that person was treated and has since been released from the hospital. The driver of the car 52-year-old Carolyn Dupree Crank is okay, but will soon face charges.

Come on people!  Take an extra second to look around and make sure there is nothing coming your way before you turn across traffic!
