Ever here of BluesOnAir? It's a free online classic blues radio stream run by a Korean guy. At this moment he's playing Snooky Pryor.

I, too, miss Stevie Ray. I'm almost 40, but I remember listening to my tape of Stevie's album with "Cold Shot" on it as a teenager in my first car (an "85 Jetta). Friends asking "Who is that? That's amazing!" whenever I played it. A soundtrack of my youth, that album was, and I felt a real affinity with Stevie Ray.

Thanks for beinging back a good memory!

Back in 1990 I was working in Portland, Oregon part-time as a stage hand. I was backstage at a SRV performance in Schnitzer hall...about 8 months before he died. Easily one of the higlights of my 'backstage' career. Portland has been a big blues city for a long time and I became a fan of the blues back around 1988 as a result of exposure to some of the finest hanging out at Key Largo, the Crystal Ballroom, and a few places I can't even remember the names for. JLHooker, BBKing, Curtis Salgado and Jeff Healy are just a few of the artists I have experienced live. You are right on the money with the comment about 'live' vs 'cd' but you know the nice thing about good blues...in many parts of the states, it doesn't cost any more than a couple of drinks and maybe a cover charge to hear some of the up and coming greats.
If you havn't already heard of these guys, I suggest you try to...if you like SRV...you might dig these too
Jeff Healy (Blind ax grinder that plays it on his lap, famous for a couple of tracks on the movie soundtrack for "roadhouse")
Curtis Salgado (and the Stillhettos) Curtis was John Belushi's inspiration for the character he played in "the Blues Brothers" Plays the harp like ...well...you'll see.:)
Johnny Wayne Shephard sp? Very young, very talented, around for a long time but recently hit the charts with Blue on Black
and one of my personal favs
Johnny Lang plays it like he was born with it (he practically was) released his first album at the age of 14...and while you may be skeptical about this...once you hear his voice...you will know why blues artists including clapton, king, hooker, among many others have praised him over and over. AMAZING LIVE PERFORMER!!! must be seen to be believed...check it out.
