They may not be the type you would think of seriously, but that’s because people don’t try to understand them better, or they get so easily tuned in to the stereotypes that the local media feeds on them.

That’s exactly right. And it’s the people that don’t take the Angels or other motorcyle clubs seriously that end up getting hurt. Respect them, leave them alone, and be nice to them. The same basic way you would treat any other person. As Sonny Barger, on of the original Hells Angels says:

“I treat everybody the way I want to be treated until they treat me different. And if they treat me different, I treat them accordingly. People can say I’m a bad guy or a good guy, but I am to them what they are to me first.”

And,

“We’re polite to people, believe it or not, and a lot of people are not.  People are really rude to other people.  And that’s why I think some people fear us because, when we run into of them rude motherf*****s, we f*** ‘em up. And they don’t know why they got f****d up. They really don’t.  But a guy will come in and step on your toes, spill beer on you and push you out of the way and tell you to get the f*** out of his way.  You knock him out and when he wakes up, he calls the cops.

Exactly right. That is the basic “Code of the Road.” You ALWAYS help a motorcyclist in need.

THAT is the what it’s all about. Respect others and treat them nicely, and they will respect you and treat you nicely.

Now, if you haven’t already done so, it’s your obligation to help a biker in need.

They then invited us to their evening BBQ, we drank tons of beer and sang songs at the camp fire. After bacon, eggs and and a gallon of coffee, we were sent on our way.

I have no doubt they were all criminals in some way of other but they were great us and certainly less criminal than Bush and his cabal.
