Also, it is a trick the awful Frenchmen are using for a while. You can thus refill day and night. Only, you need a bank card with a chip to use it.

Yes. I know. I was being witty and sarcastic. We have been pumping our own gas in the US since the 1970's.

Tell your Korean friend it isn't exactly a Korean invention. ;)

In Malaysia, it was self-paying at the pump forwhile... until they uncovered large amounts of credit card fraud and such. I'm sure its like that in manu other parts of the world too. :P

Hey Jeff, another for your "black box" thesis: a foreign guy who graduated from the Yonsei Korean program who is now enrolled in a Korean language program for training teachers of Korean was asked during class (in English!) if he could speak Korean.

You CAN'T pump your own gas in Oregon, not even for your motorcycle.

I was ready to move out of state until I found a station with Nazis...er, attendants, who were cool with the notion of No One Touches My Bike.

Jeff, here in Oregon there is NO pump your own gas (except at certain fleet filling stations.) It's great during the winter time. Unfortunately, whenever I drive in another state I have to re-educate myself with the latest self-pump technology.

Don't forget about the joys of prepay gas in States. You have to go in the store, pay, then go out and pump, and then go back and get change if there is any. That is one thing I DON'T miss about the states. I love tossing my key to the attendant and kicking back in my car. It's the one time a week where I feel like someone is actually serving me.
