Wayward Buffalo's Owner to Slaughter Them

Owner of Wayward Buffalo in Maryland Plans to Send Animals to Slaughterhouse
The Associated Press

PIKESVILLE, Md. Apr 27, 2005 — A herd of buffalo that got loose and wandered around a well-to-do neighborhood won't be causing any more trouble: Their annoyed owner plans to pack them off to the slaughterhouse.

The 10 or so beasts disrupted traffic and alarmed homeowners Tuesday before officers managed to corral them on a tennis court. More than a dozen police cars and a police helicopter were used to herd the animals.

<description>The elephant in that last photo, with the dude riding him, looks somewhat dejected.

Fun's over, I guess.

<description>Word has it that the elephants were attempting to reach the Japanese Embassy to protest distored pachyderm history in the latest middle school text books.

At least one of the irate elephants was found to be carrying a trunk full of red paint, which he apparently intended to throw over the fence at the embassy.

Two elephants became hungry during the trip and were in a local restaurant seeking a meal when captured.
