Brian,

I see you are a member of kerry's Motor Boat patrol. They go all over the web and make this "but, but, but,..." noise.

Kerry lied about being in Cambodia in 68. He has admitted and backed away from that. Kerry had to retract that he was Vice Chairman of the Senate Intelligence committee. That was Bob Kerrey of nebraska, a medal of honor winner.

Keep going but, but, but... Brian. it only makes you look like the loser Kerry is.

Jeff,

I\'ve said on my blog several times that I\'m not all that enamored with John Kerry. Frankly, I find him a bit drab and boring... meaning he\'s the ultimate \"safe\" candidate for the Dems. I would have been a pro-Dean or pro-Edwards voter had the situation played out differently. But yea, at the moment, I\'m voting against Bush.

But so what? American voters have been voting for the lesser of two evils for years. Why this sudden shock that some people out there are voting for one guy because - surprise, surprise - he isn\'t as bad as the other.

I will, however, defend KErry on his war record. I find it deeply ironic that the conservatives like yourself, who heaped all sorts of praise on Pat Tillman for giving up the easy life and risking life and limb for his country, are no so quick to accept the most outlandish slander about Kerry and his war service. The media is finally getting around to examining the claims made by these Swift Boat veteran folks and their story is crumbling under the exposure.

But Brian, whatever Bush may say or do, that doesn\'t mean that Kerry doesn\'t exaggerate and or lie himself. Whether Bush says he slipped in mud or not doesn\'t mean that Kerry didn\'t shoot an unarmed, injured, fleeing teenager in the back and then recommend himself for a medal for overcoming vastly outnumbering forces. It doesn\'t mean that Kerry isn\'t hypocritical for demanding that Bush release his military records without releasing his own. It doesn\'t mean that Kerry\'s isn\'t hypocritical for insisting that that Mrs. Bush release her tax information while Mrs. Heinz...errr..Heinz-Kerry refuses to release hers. It doesn\'t mean that Kerry is hypocritical when Kerry stands up and talks about the evil wealthy members of congress, when he is by FAR the wealthiest person. It doesn\'t mean that he isn\'t hypocritcal when he talks about \"Benedict Arnold\" companies that ship their jobs off to countries with cheap labor forces when that is exactly what his wife\'s company did not long before he made that statement.

I seem to be of the opposite view as Zdunk. I have NEVER yet met anyone that was really pro-Kerry. Everyone that is planning to vote for Kerry seems to be simply voting against Bush. That is a dangerous attitude. No one has talked about the wonderful job Kerry has done and how he has espoused great causes that qualify him to be in charge.

Would you characterize yourself as pro-kerry or anti-bush?

In my case, until the Democrats can present me with a candidate that assures me that it will not be \"more of the same under a different name,\" then I will vote for proven leadership, stability, and character.

Jeff,

Gore never said \"I invented the internet.\" That was a lie.

http://www.snopes.com/quotes/internet.htm

The \"love story\" story is also garbage. Daily Howler debunks it here:

http://www.dailyhowler.com/h120699_1.shtml

In both cases, Gore was a victim of a hostile and irresponsible press.

But while were on the subject of trivial lies, Bush just got nailed for another one: going to Philly and telling the locals he likes his cheese steak they way they do, with Cheese whiz (as opposed to the Frenchy Kerry who eats his with swiss cheese). Turns out the sandwiches his campaign ordered were missing the critical ingredient.

I also remember Bush wiping out while riding his bike in Crawford and blaming it on some slick mud from recent rain. BUt the wheather report showed that Crawford was hot and dry for the previous 8 days or so...

DiaKorea, "Tell us more about the 'kerry distortions'."

Sure. Kerry said he spent Christmas 1968 in Cambodia. If he was just mistaken about events and dates of the war, no problem. But he brought that up specifically to complain about American foreign policy, lying about no troops being in Cambodia, when he personally was there. And it turns out he was the one lying. It makes a HUGE difference in the context he used it. He used it as an example of government lying, when in fact, it was he that was lying.

Zdunk, "'defended the American homeland during the war' (Zdunk snorts pepsi thru his nose laughing at this one)."

GW Bush was doing something statistically more dangerous than serving in Vietnam - flying fighter jets in the National Guard.

Zdunk, "Explain why someone should vote for Bush without mentioning Kerry."

No problem.

Vote for Bush because he believes in the idea that civilization is worth fighting for in a contest with an ideology which aims to destroy it.

Vote for Bush because he will not allow Iran, a terrorist nation whose state policy is "Death to America," develop and distribute nuclear weapons.

Vote for Bush because he believes that Arab-Israeli issues will be judged by their contribution to the goal of creating democratic institutions in the Middle East, and not upon any grounds of historical entitlement.

Vote for Bush because he will ignore leftist European calls for the U.S. to stand down its army and allow Islamofascism to grow stronger.

Vote for Bush because he met the threat posed by radical Islam similar to the way Roosevelt faced global fascism and Harry Truman's response to the Soviet Union.

This is easy. Do you want me to go on?

Zdunk, Bush's military record is not an issue to me. He did not bring it up in his campaign. However, Kerry has made his 4 months in Vietnam the centerpiece of his campaign....and he has continually exaggerated and lied about it. If he brings it up, it is fair game...and you must notice that Kerry has yet to bring one single piece of hard evidence to disprove the attacks on his record. He simply replies with ad hominem attacks against the people making the claims. Very suspicious.

As for Bush. He is not my candidate. I used to be fiercly liberal. Hell, I even voted for Dukakis in 1988. Then I became libertarian, where I am today. I voted for Bush in the last election...the first time I have ever cast a vote for a republican presidential candidate.

I will be voting for Bush again. Why? because he has demonstrated leadership. Perfection? No. But leadership? Yes. He has principles, whether you agree with them or not. He is willing to stand up for those principles and see them through to the end. He will stand up for and protect US interests without kowtowing to the whinings of insignificant, irrelevant, often backstabbing allies and other countries.

Those are qualities that I admire and support. I simply do not see them in his opponent.

Had John Dean or John Edwards been the nominee for President, then I would have given them long and serious consideration. But not Kerry.

I will lay my prediction out here now....Bush will be re-elected in a landslide with 75% or more of the electoral votes.

It is sobering stuff to hear about Kerry.

And now, since the Vietnam war on character is such an issue to you, I hope you will post your analysis of Bush Jr's war. The 48 hour jump from last on the Texas Air nation guard list to first. His own extravagant claims in the ghostwritten bio he did while running for Texas gov. which said he "defended the American homeland during the war" (Zdunk snorts pepsi thru his nose laughing at this one). His prancing around on the carrier flight deck strutting "Mission Over" ?

Please also analyze your candidate.

I notice that in this elections, Republicans really have nothing positive to say about Bush. It is all attacks on Kerry. Please disprove this Jeff. Explain why someone should vote for Bush without mentioning Kerry. I could do it for Kerry. I doubt you can for Bush. That's a challenge, bud!

Exactly Dan.... I WAS going to mention that... The discussions always going something like this:

Republican: Kerry lied. He said x, then he said y:

Democrat: Well, Bush is an idiot.

Republican: Kerry also lied when he said this, then this.

Democrat: Bush is a jackass.
