Positive USFK Article

I had to read the article three times just to convince myself that there were no hidden meanings in the story. I couldn’t find any. It seems as if one of those very rare occurances has taken place. The Korean media has actually published a positive story on the US military in Korea. It seems that the US Forces Korea theaters have been playing the Korean national anthem along with the US national anthem before the start of the movies.

Yes, but then they turn around and put up the USFK Refuses to Pay Compensation ,http://times.hankooki.com/lpage/nation/200404/kt2004040821293811980.htm> as their second lead. It only took them four hours to find one to cover it.

Jeffry,

You are beginning to cogitate like a leftist liberal: creating distinctions that don’t
exist, instead of finding them where they actually lay.

The news article flatters Koreans who demand recognition as an equal to America. In the Korean psyche, playing the anthem alongside the US at movie theaters is a symbol of equality. The article is not positive, it is flattering propaganda fueling Korean envy politics.

Jeffry, have you ever considered yourself an emotional-liberal hiding under a conservative’s turtle shell? You direct your angst in the same way a hogwon teacher views the world: you try to make reality conform to your pre-conceived notions of life. That will get you in trouble.
