He Who Has Ears, Let Him Hear.

Here are two soundbites that give a bit of an example of what each of these two guitars sounds like.

The Liberty single cone resonator on the left has a higher, more raw and metalic sound ideal for finger-style playing, while the National tri-cone resonator on the right has a more rich, bold sound with greater sustain ideal for slide playing.

Click on each of the pictures to hear what the guitar sounds like. For the sake of bandwidth, I would be grateful if you would right click on the pictures and save the files onto your hard drive and play from there. Thanks

Jeff,

Very nice. Very nice indeed. I love the slide work.

Takes me home again.

Are you teaching your kids to play too?

Gotta keep the music alive in the next generation, ya know? Kids these days are growing up listening to so much guitar-free music on the radio, and when they do hear guitar, it’s usually in the form of high speed shredding, i.e. noise.

I’ve never played a resonator before, but wow, you can really make that tin can sound sweet.

Keep it up. ;-)

Ziggy, thanks.

By the way, who ARE you and what do you do? Send me an email, if you would.

Ah, as much as I’d like to contact you, I’m afraid I’ve shot my smart-aleck mouth off too many times on too many blogs to show my face in these parts now.

Reading back on a lot of my old posts, both here and especially over at the Nomad’s, I wonder what I was thinking when I wrote such things. Not that I don’t stand by the substance of my remarks [well, most of them anyway], but I really could have used more tact in the way I presented my arguments. I really regret not being more civil sometimes.

They say it’s better to stay silent and let the world think you a fool rather than open your mouth and remove all doubt. I’ve removed all doubt too many times.

Thanks for your great blog, though. Especially this Blues part of your blog. I practiced Freddie King’s “Hideaway” til almost 10:00 last night. My wife says I’m getting better, but I’ll never be great. Still, I have a lot of fun trying. Don’t think my neighbors like it much, though. ;-)
Playing my geetar and reading expat blogs like yours gives me the energy to keep going here in Korea sometimes. I like living and working here for the most part, but it can really be hard at times. I have to walk by a lot of burning US flags on a fairly reguilar basis. It’s very disheartening.

Anyway. We’ll meet someday. I can practically guarantee it. You and I share several mutual acquaintances. When we eventually show up at the same function, I’ll be the guy in the audience who raises my hand and says something so absurd it immediately clues you in: “Hey, that must be ZF!”

Til then, keep up the great work.
:-)
